I came home from work on Thursday to find my neighbors hanging out in their driveway, looking up at the Spruce tree that boarders our property line. Closer inspection revealed that thousands of bees had made a temporary home atop the Spruce. My neighbor called a local beekeeper’s association, who called in a keeper see if they could help. The keeper responded and said that it was the biggest swarm he’s seen. Probably close to 10,000 bees. Evidently, there is a hive in some old grown Oak trees, behind the houses across the street, which had grown too big, forcing a swarm (with their queen) to find a new home… the Spruce. The keeper was successful in sweeping the queen into a box, which caused the rest of the bees to follow. Some pics after the jump…
